Red Fields 03:56
Black clouds cover the skies There will be no dawn No hope for the city of white Fear fills the air Light the beacons deep in the mountains The host of Riddermark will answer Not for pride, not for gold But for the sake of their world How did it come to this? Who wants so much death and despair? The hammer of the underworld strikes Can they survive the night? The sun starts to rise The riders have arrived To spill blood, to fight On the red fields of despair Crush the enemy This is the end of time There's no escape No one will survive The cursed have risen To fulfill their oath To cleanse the land From the curse of the Black Hand Good men have fallen, making a stand And now we have the upper hand The flame of the west will burn As the King takes command Crush the Enemy This is the end of time There's no escape No one will survive

Deliverance 03:43
Horses, shields and swords Clashed into the night Blood was soaked into soil Many of ours died in that fight To the forbidden mountain we rode Against creatures with thousand eyes Their nails were scratching on the ground Behind me I heard the war horn sound Stab your sword into the hearts of creatures from the depths of dark Light your torch, burn corpses with tar and scream: “It’s our win!” First we saw them by the river Sneaking, muddy beasts They scrounged our boats Looking for something to eat Then people from our village Started to disappear And the King gave us command So none of us to live in fear Stab your sword into the hearts of creatures from the depths of dark Light your torch, burn corpses with tar and scream: “It’s our win!” Under sparkles from fires soaring to the sky On this field we were ready to die Proud, beside our king I stood Around swords, bodies, and wood Stab your sword into the hearts of creatures from the depths of dark Light your torch, burn corpses with tar and scream: “It’s our win!”

Under the trees and below the mountain Reigns a king of old, a king of wood and stone For hundreds of years he guards the Great Forest He is the lord of the Woodland realm Most noble among us Master of all not created by man Never forget where your place is If else, to help you no one can Greed, lust and hate seized his heart More than anything he desires The White Gems of Lasgalen Pure, oh, Starlight Destroy the shackles enslaving your mind Find yourself once again and forever Rise beside the ones of your kind Valiant, wiser and braver Out of the battle and into the night The King is freed from his curse Now he’s facing the evil With nature’s full might

Baldr's Song 03:57
There was the Night of Silence And the snow was falling down A man with scars and sword Kneeled on the ground. He looked towards Baldur’s ship, Disappearing in the sea The son of Odin, beloved one Betrayed by cunning God Joy and happiness leave Asgard with him And what is coming from now on? Fear and anguish, sorrow and death, Earth and sky will collide… Ragnarok! The Nine worlds will fall if Baldur’s soul Never comes back to Asgard Now down in halls of darkness and cold Mistress of death is his bride Ragnarok! Freyr, hear me praying to you and please help me and my next of kin We’re going into a war of the worlds I think we don’t have much time...

I was walking in the night With friends by my side On a narrow meandering path To the hut in the woods Where they had vodka, beer, and food And a place to play guitar A bunch of creatures were there About their troubles they didn't care One dwarf offered me a beer I drank it to the bottom They looked at me in awe And my head goes In the midnight forest hut creatures sang and played flutes Celebrating the night itself In the morning everything was gone And we stood all alone in the middle of the forest glade In the midnight forest hut creatures sang and played flutes Celebrating the night itself In the morning everything was gone And we stood all alone in the middle of the forest glade

I was born amidst the season of ice and sorrow When the Sun denies all sanctity in life And seals its radiant caress away from Earth’s impenetrable grey blindfold A new breath embraced by frost A first cry kissing the crystallized sky Welcome to my dominion, my time has come Emotions relinquished, leaving void to reign Colors of the past decay under cracking footsteps Monolithic white versus shards of frozen heart Every poison I held within now’s conquering horizons Countless mirrors of ice staring back at me I inhale the rage carried by gales’ wings Vitric droplets flagellating skin and sight From gentle anger to relentless fury Burden of forgiveness once given, swept by a whirl Razorblade vortex dance of a frostbitten soul The lowest of desires now go skyward only to rain back I see my hatred, frozen in time, hanging in wait To be unleashed by the gravity of thoughts Spikes and daggers of ice start a song unvoiced As the blizzard arises from a short slumber Ripe fruits of the untamed permafrost now glitter Gathering strength to grow into vengeful avalanche When everything is as cold as me Remember that you took my last spark When the darkness finally binds the light Realize what you have made me become When the absence of mercy oppresses any warmth Abandon your shelter and face the storm Survive the winter Survive me

They are his eyes and ears So he would know the mortal deeds One to the hanged and one to the slain Giving us his mind and thought in time of need Blood is spilled, shields are splintered In the time of the sword and the axe Sacrifice is made for them When the raven god prepares for a feast

Sunrise bleeds out through the mists And coagulates in the snowy tracks To drown with every luminous drop The time until my journey begins And you will be there, I know In the glaring white embrace Even step back leads ever forward As uncharted paths crystalize over Map of the world before today All I have are withered footprints on ice To give away to a myriad of concealed gazes Skeletal trees claw the zenith by its throat Lacerated flesh and squeezed exhales Rage between and bury the horizon As I continue to chase it with a mournful pace The ragged one will be crowned in snow He tarnishes the ground towards no throne The brightness around to be turned in dark By scattered procession in gray and black Among ravens and wolves I walk Among ravens and wolves I walk Between sharpened teeth and distorted croak Among ravens and wolves I walk I engrave my being onto tempered water Sculptured wave for eyeless gale to read And follow, creeping along with no direction Angrily blinding the only memory of me But you see all, remember and pass it on Sacred stillness, graceful and vile Dismembers with passion pulsing warmth Howling pieces echo within the lungs And soar upward the gaping chill If there’s a heartbeat other than mine It’s either yours, or yours for the taking Mountain shadows weigh on your wings Circling accretion of shining charcoal Peaks kneel, besieged by snarling pack To shield the Sun which thaws behind Welcome the traveler, astray from his kind Grant him stars should he forsake daylight Only silence here to claim as his own Away from all is the closest to call home Among ravens and wolves I walk Among ravens and wolves I walk Feathers, fur and tattered cloak Among ravens and wolves I walk My campfire sets the northern sky ablaze With color amidst the iridescent obscurity Here is threshold beyond mere sleep Engulfed by the pyre of reigning Moon

I set out on the path unmarked By a deep desire bound Longing for what wasn’t lost But maybe never found Once greeted into this world amiss Deranged without a choice Bereavement in lieu of bliss pestilence, but no rejoice Over mountains brimmed with cold By rivers stirred of gale Under wretched sun I trod Strode before the crescent pale Sought the one to end it all The dweller of the mythic slough The tailor of felicity, not mar To impart grace to this etched heart A myriad of stars grin above the sky Earthen grove alight, beckons a lonesome cry What goes now of the troubled one? What must do this weary son? Stillness in reply, only the nightjar shrieks in pry At last I met him in the chthonic spire A voidness of thought and shade Knelt and begged the ancient one ‘I know mortal of what you fathom Yet what I can offer you is none For mere slumber’s what I fashion Now creep away and greet your days You’ll find zest in what remains Harrowed by a voyage ended, it is time to rest a while Dusk befalls and comes the journey last What goes now of the troubled one? What must do this weary son? Stillness in reply, only the nightjar shrieks in pry

about

"Tales from the Nine Worlds" is the debut album by the folk/pagan metal band Elfheim. It's created in the moment when two of the bandmates move from their hometown of Svishtov to Plovdiv, part of the recordings being made completely online, exclusively in a domestic environment. Thematically, the album is built mostly upon Nordic myths, but sometimes touches the works of J. R. R. Tolkien as well, with the intention of merging them both with the band's standalone ideas into a unified free interpretation. The cover art is created by the painter Christiana Spassova and is based on one of the songs inside.
